Yahweh is God Ministries International (YIGMI) is a sanctuary for orphaned and vulnerable children in Jinja, Uganda. Since 2019, we have dedicated ourselves to providing a safe haven where young lives are nurtured, educated, and empowered for a brighter tomorrow.
Our Mission
At YIGMI, our mission is to identify the needs of vulnerable children and provide solutions that transform their lives through:
- Education: Equipping children with the skills and knowledge to create their own opportunities.
- Healthcare: Ensuring every child’s well-being and access to basic medical care.
- Empowerment: Supporting children to grow with confidence, love, and dignity.
We believe every child deserves a future filled with hope and possibilities.
Our Story
YIGMI was born out of compassion and necessity. Witnessing the struggles of orphaned and vulnerable children in Jinja — many without access to basic needs like food, healthcare, and education — motivated us to take action. Despite government initiatives, resource shortages left many children without adequate care.
Over the past 5 years, YIGMI has become a beacon of hope, providing care for over 150 children and empowering them to thrive.
Why Uganda?
Uganda, a beautiful country in East Africa, is home to 49 million people. Despite its natural beauty and vibrant culture, many families face economic hardships, leaving thousands of children without the care they need.
Why Jinja?
Located on the northern shores of Lake Victoria, Jinja is known for its water resources and as the source of the Nile River. Yet, behind its scenic landscapes lies a community with vulnerable children in desperate need of support.
What We Do
• Safe Haven: Currently, 70 children call YIGMI home
• Education:
- 49 children attend primary school.
- 3 are in high school.
- 10 are in preschool.
- 8 children are homeschooled due to funding challenges.
• Basic Needs: The home runs on a modest $2,000 per month, providing food, shelter, and care.
• Empowerment Programs: Through love and support, we empower children to dream big and achieve more.

- The youngest child at YIGMI is 3 years old, and the oldest is 17.
- The home has 4 bedrooms with 21 beds.
- We consume about 20 bags of mielie meal monthly to feed the children.
- Bread costs 5,500 UGX (about $1.48 USD), a small but significant daily expense.
